Asher University

MISSION

Here at Asher University, we are a 501-c3 Non-Profit Christian based university, where we seek to provide the opportunity to receive a high-quality education and participate in a athletic program, to a broad variety of students from all socioeconomic backgrounds.  We know the value of a quality education.  However, based on the foundational principles of the church, we strive to keep our doors open to all who want to come, including those financially otherwise disadvantaged.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We accept the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the written Word of God.   We believe in the divine inspiration, entire trustworthiness, and final authority of the Bible in all matters of faith and practice.

THE MEANING OF “ASHER

  • When GOD went to Abram and to him, he was changing his name from Abram to Abraham, he to him “he had to be ASHER in his speech when he talks about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”!
  • In the Bible, the name Asher means “happy” or “blessing”. It comes from the Hebrew word osher, which means “happiness”.
  • In the Bible, Asher was the eighth son of Jacob and the founder of the Tribe of Asher.
  • Asher was one of the Twelve Tribes of Israel that was liberated out of Egypt, when Moses went to Pharaoh and told him “let my people go”.
  • Asher’s mother was Leah’s servant, Zilpah. When Asher was born, Leah exclaimed, “Happy am I! for the daughters will call me happy, so she called his name Asher”.
  • The Tribe of Asher was known for its happiness, prosperity, and good food. The tribe’s prosperity came from agriculture and trade, especially the olive oil it produced.
