GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Degree Completion
Students must be in good academic standing to graduate. Some degree programs have additional requirements that must be met before a student is able to graduate. Details are outlined under each degree program description in this catalog. Students are responsible for meeting the graduation requirements set forth in the catalog published at the time of their matriculation for the degree they are seeking. All candidates for graduation must be approved by the Degree Committee. To receive this endorsement, students must have acted responsibly in manifesting wholesome Christian character and adhering to the standards of this school. Students who change programs are responsible for meeting the graduation requirements of the new program. Students who take an extended leave of absence for more than one year are subject to the graduation requirements in effect at the time of their reinstatement unless written permission was obtained prior to the extended leave.
Intent to Graduate
Students who plan to participate in commencement must complete and submit an Intent to Graduate application to the Registrar’s Office. This must be done no later than the beginning of the Spring quarter of the year in which the student plans to graduate. Prior to commencement, the Registrar will evaluate each candidate’s academic record. Copies of the evaluations will be sent to the student, his or her advisor, and the Chief Academic Officer.
Graduation Requirements
The University graduates’ students annually; in June. Graduation means that a student’s degree is conferred, and a degree is issued. To graduate, students must complete a “Degree Application” and submit it to the Registrar after paying the graduation fee at the Business Office. Current fees are published in the schedule of each semester’s “Course Schedule.” All student desiring to graduate in June must file their degree application between October 1 and January 1. Students who do not submit their applications and fees within the prescribed periods will not have their applications reviewed for the upcoming graduation. Students who expect to graduate must be in good academic and financial standing with the University. After thoroughly reviewing the student’s academic record, the Registrar will advise the student in writing of any additional requirements he or she must fulfill before graduating.
Participation in the Commencement (Graduation) Ceremony
The University hosts one graduation ceremony each year. This ceremony is formally known as “Commencement.” Traditionally, the Commencement Ceremony is held each year in June. Dates for the annual Commencement Ceremonies are published in the academic calendar. To participate in the Commencement Ceremony:
- All students must be in good academic and financial standing with the University.
- Bachelor’s Degree candidates must be within 6 credits of completion. (However, the degree will not be issued to the student until the remaining requirements are met in the following quarter).
Degree Release
Degrees are distributed in June to students who have completed their requirements. They should be in good academic and financial standing. Students who do not wish to take part in the commencement ceremony should arrange with the Registrar’s Office to have their degree mailed to them. A fee will be charged for special mailing arrangement.
Degree Honors
Students receiving the following honors. These students qualify by completed the last 80 credit hours at Asher University and their honors are determined in the following way:
Cum Laude ………………………………………………………… 3.50 to 3.69
Magna Cum Laude …………………………………………………. 3.70 to 3.89
Summa Cum Laude ………………………………………………… 3.90 to 4.00
